Minimize your downtime!

We know how we all rely on our computers to be there, fully functional and with our  precious data on board. Sometimes computers break beyond repair and we need to do the scariest thing. Buy a new laptop (yay) and start from the scratch, setting up, securing (boo) and trying to retrieve the emails, photos, documents etc.

We can help you seamlessly move from one computer to another and can also source the new laptop with next day delivery and have the backup ready when it comes in to minimize the time when you have no working computer.

Unlike some other companies we really pride ourselves with our service delivery. All drivers, updates and security are installed and optimized on your new computer. New PC’s and Laptops always come in with tons of unwanted trials and software that slows your brand new computer down unnecessarily.

We understand your needs and provide Top class service so that you can enjoy your new shiny computer rather than get frustrated with it straight away!

Bringing sexy back to Iphone 4 and 4s

Have you broken the front, back and sides of your Iphone 4 or 4s? Are you not mad about the bulky, rubbery or plastic back covers? Are your screen protectors making the screen less crispy?

We have a great solution to prevent it from happening in future AND it looks great.

We took one of the Iphones to model for this one, the Iphone does NOT come with that otherwise perfect cover!

It’s a lovely alternative to a screen protector and silicone/hard back cover, especially if you carry it in your pocket with your keys and spare change.  It has a lovely magnetic clip and is very thin, doesn’t feel bulky at all. It has a lovely feel to it and flips to the back when you’re using your Iphone.

OUR OPINION:

For its price it’s lovely quality.

We have loved the sample so we will have them in stock very soon in white, plum and red.

Want one? Let us know to reserve it for you at 01-286-1800 or better yet, drop in!

More good news for Ireland as Facebook is set to double size of it’s Dublin operation.

According to a report on Bloomberg Facebook is planning to move from its current operation in Dublin’s Dockland basin to a new 120,000 sq ft office location which it will lease for five years. Citing three people familiar with the plans who did not wish to be named, Facebook is considering the former Bank of Ireland headquarters building and two office blocks in the south Docklands area. The report seems to have been spurred on by a report on Dublin city’s office market by Jones Lang LaSalle which said Facebook has “demand” for office space in the city. Facebook’s Dublin offices are responsible for all of the social network’s operations outside the US. The social networking giant, which counts over 800m users worldwide, is expected to IPO between March and May this year. Dublin is rapidly garnering a reputation as the ‘internet capital of Europe’ due to the presence of significant operations of major online giants including Google, Amazon, Yahoo!, Facebook, Microsoft and most recently Twitter. Google, for example, came to Ireland in 2004 with the intention of creating 300 jobs – today it employs more than 2,000. Twitter, which announced plans to locate its international headquarters in the city in September, is also understood to be ramping up its data centre activity in Dublin by up to one third.

IBM acquires Irish software firm Cúram for undisclosed sum

Cúram, which means “care and protection” as Gaeilge, was founded in 1990. One of the company’s investors is State agency Enterprise Ireland.

After the acquisition is completed, Cúram Software will be integrated into IBM's Software Group, which is a key driver of growth and profitability for the company.

Cúram has about 700 employees. In addition to its headquarters in Dublin, the company has offices in Herndon, Virginia; Toronto; Frankfurt, Germany; Canberra, Australia and Bangalore, India. The acquisition is anticipated to close by the end of December subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews.

Cúram’s technology is used in more than 80 government agency projects around the world to provide the most appropriate social programmes to citizens and their families in a timely manner, deliver services more effectively and continuously monitor progress toward achieving people’s social and economic potential.

The software is used by health and human services, workforce services and social security organisations around the world to deliver welfare, social insurance and both individual and employer-based social programmes.

13 years of collaboration

“After 13 years of experience working with IBM, we know our companies are an excellent fit,” said John Hearne, CEO, Cúram Software.

“Many of our clients already use IBM technologies and services, and they will benefit from working with Cúram and IBM as one.

“Through IBM’s global reach, we can grow our client base by bringing the benefits of Cúram’s Social Industry Platform to citizens around the world.”

Cúram Software’s Social Industry Platform includes processes to deliver all types of programmes and offers the flexibility needed to quickly update them as policy makers react to different economic times.

The platform also allows government and providers to focus on lowering overall programme costs by ensuring that the benefits and services provided address core issues and that people become more self-sufficient.

Through its Smarter Cities initiative, IBM helps cities and governments serve citizens better by adopting more intelligent and efficient ways to analyse data, anticipate problems and co-ordinate resources. IBM has led more than 2,000 projects to achieve these goals and through its acquisition of Cúram Software, IBM expects to extend its leadership in this area.

IDC Government Insights estimates the new Smarter Cities information technology market opportunity at $34bn in 2011, increasing more than 18pc per year to $57bn by 2014.

“We are working to help cities and governments at all levels transform the way they interact with citizens while improving efficiency,” said Craig Hayman, general manager of IBM Industry Solutions.

“We all have stories to tell about standing in long lines or making countless phone calls to gain access to government services, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Together with Cúram, IBM can transform the way citizens do business with government in a way that benefits everyone.”

Since 1999, IBM and Cúram have collaborated on federal, state, local and provincial-level social programme solutions around the world. More than 90pc of Cúram’s clients use IBM WebSphere middleware and nearly 70pc of its clients use IBM hardware.
